Outstanding bench made set of 6 Queen Anne style dining chairs by master craftsman Douglas Campbell I believe he worked … Read more Outstanding bench made set of 6 Queen Anne style dining chairs by master craftsman Douglas Campbell I believe he worked in Newport RI. Chairs are solid cherry and have beautifully formed cabriole legs with pad feet and a balloon style seat frame. Note the curve of the back which makes these chairs very comfortable. Even the flame stitch style upholstery of the slip seats is quite nice. All of the joints are mortise and tenon and pinned construction just as they were in the 18th century. 5 of the chairs are signed and 1 is not. The unsigned one is slightly darker in color otherwise it is exactly the same as the others. Chairs were probably made in the late 20th century. Beautiful copies of the best of 18th century American Queen Anne chairs. Minor wear to the finish consistent with age and use. There is 1 spot on the upholstery on one of the slip seats, this is shown in the next to the last photo. it is less than 1/4" diameter. Chairs are 40" tall and 21" wide at the knees and 21" deep. The seat height is 18". See less
