An impressive antique pottery jug or pitcher
Exquisitely elaborated with amazing 3-dimensional detail stoneware vessel in Neo-Gothic style
Richly decorated around with eight figures of saints and kings standing under Gothic arcs
Salt glazed exterior with charming creamy off white color, slightly mottled with beige dots
The design has been registered in 1842 by Charles Meigh, a renown potterer active in Hanley between the 1835-1861, which later operated under Old Hall Earthenware Co. until 1902
A relief molded based on the work of J. Giarinelle, a prominent Italian sculptor
Circa mid 1800's, English, North Staffordshire
Measurements: Approximately 8.5" high x 7" spout to handle x 4.5" widest diameter
It weighs 2 lbs. 5 oz.
Condition: Very Good overall. Please see photos. Possibly it used to have a pewter lid, which is not longer present. Very emblematic for the period and appealing nevertheless. All original.
