These plates were produced by Indiana Glass Company (a subsidiary of Lancaster Colony Corporation) of Dunkirk, Indiana in the United … Read more These plates were produced by Indiana Glass Company (a subsidiary of Lancaster Colony Corporation) of Dunkirk, Indiana in the United States during the 1970s. They feature a ruffled edge and a starburst or diamond point design which is also known as "English Hob and Button" or "Chunky" inspired by the original design officially called "Service 2266" by English glassmaker Sowerby made the 1920s (which they reintroduced in the 1950s). There are some subtle differences between the Sowerby and Indiana Glass plates and different color offerings. The plates by Indiana Glass, were offered in iridescent gold (often also called Marigold) as pictured here. These along with some other patterns were part of their carnival (depression) glass revival and sold at Kmart and various grocery stores. They measure approximately 10 inches in diameter. Indiana Glass also offered a smaller size 6.5 inch plate in the blue color. See less
