The statue features the Saint's classic iconographic symbols: the raven on his shoulder (which saved him from poisoned bread), the book of the monastic "Rule," the abbey's staff (a symbol of spiritual guidance), and the cross on his chest. The wood boasts a warm original patina that enhances its splendid grain. The inscription ".FONTED.," certifying its craftsmanship, is engraved under the base.
