An exceptional Anglo-Indian folk art sculpture of a Marwari horse, hailing from the storied desert region of Rajasthan, India.
Handcrafted with a solid wood core, the figure is completely enveloped in hand-embossed brass sheeting and chain as well as copper sheeting layered for depth, using traditional repoussé and token work techniques. The ornamentation beautifully captures a stylized saddle, dynamic geometric blankets, and a decorative bridle. The sculpture prominently features the rare, distinctively curved inward-pointing "lyre" ears unique to the majestic Marwari breed.
