The handle is densely sheathed in small turquoise seed beads laid in tightly controlled rows over a hide-wrapped core, the beading interrupted by narrow bands of red and darker beads that read as intentional “ring” motifs and grip markers. Near the head, a wider beaded cuff—worked in turquoise with a central black field and flanking red stripes—functions as a visual collar and transition point between the beaded haft and the smooth, elongated head, which appears carefully shaped and polished to an even surface. Additional red-wrapped sections along the handle, now showing age-softened leather and thread breaks at the edges, reinforce the sense of hand construction and the layered material language typical of reservation-era beadwork objects, where brilliant commercial beads were used to ennoble traditional forms.
