It's a quality display piece, large enough … Read more This large vintage Diablo mask comes from an eclectic collector's estate in Minneapolis. It's a quality display piece, large enough to cover a person's face and looks to be sized for a traditional street-fair costume. Believed to have been purchased during a trip to Mexico in the 1980's.

Hand-carved, hand-painted. Bright red with three blue feathers and a black, carved beard. There are three holes - one on either temple and one below the center feather.

The feathers rattle - I believe the feathers are made from plant seed pods.

Approx 18-inches tall by 8-iches wide with a hanging-from-wall depth of 8-inches.

Overall, excellent condition with general wear appropriate for age and materials. No loose or wobbly bits. No major chips or deep cracks... the wood under one of the temple holes has started to split, but minor — see photo. There's also a splitting in the paint (surface level) on the same side on the cheek - see photos.
