An exquisite set of five antique citrus or grapefruit spoons in the iconic "Florette" pattern, originally introduced in 1909 by historic Connecticut silversmith Rogers & Bro. (under the International Silver Co. umbrella). A brilliant testament to the hyper-specialized dining etiquette of the late Edwardian era, these spoons were meticulously engineered to elevate the consumption of exotic fruits, which were considered a true luxury at the turn of the century.
Each 5.75-inch spoon features a beautifully sculpted, fluid Art Nouveau handle adorned with a deeply struck, low-relief motif of swirling blossoms and scrolling tendrils. The highly functional design transitions seamlessly into a sharply tapered, pointed bowl with stylized architectural "wings" at the throat—offering both structural leverage and elegant piercing power for segmented grapefruits, oranges, or melons.
The reverse of each handle bears the crisp antique backstamp: [Star] Rogers & Bro. [Anchor] A1 alongside the PAT '09 registration mark. The "A1" designation denotes the manufacturer's premium, heavy-deposit standard electroplate quality over a durable base metal alloy.
Boasting an exceptionally clean original plating with virtually no bleeding or base metal exposure, this set retains a magnificent, deep, high-contrast natural patina within the recessed details of the floral reliefs. A captivating addition to an eclectic tablescape, an accent for modern "dopamine decor" entertaining, or a rare find for a dedicated collector of specialized antique servingware.
