This large … Read more I'm an award winning basket maker and have collected baskets for decades. I'm now downsizing some of them. This large mid-century Yanomami gathering basket is tightly handwoven of natural fibers with circles painted around the entire basket. It is woven with several inner rings for stability and strength. In great condition, but the leaf wrap, that goes around their head for carrying has been long missing, as this isn't one of the newer ones being woven for the tourist trade. Although you can find older ones with the wrap.
The Yanomami are indigenous to the Amazonian regions of Brazil and Venezuela.
