This piece has a spectacular provenance. If you collect arts and crafts, this piece is for you.
Marked as having been made in the Imperial Arms Factory of Tula (in what was then the Russian Empire) around the end of the 19th century, this vase is a fine example of the bold style of its era. Its embellished design shows the influence of the Art Nouveau style on the Russian cultural scene in the years before the outbreak of the First World War. Note the Imperial Warrant, or hallmark, on the underside. The copper body features applied brass tulips, with the top and bottom trims and three whiplash handles in brass. Polish it up for a more contemporary look, or keep it as it for more understated glamour. Either way, it is in excellent condition.
