In the 1980's New York was a very different place to the shiny, cosmopolitan city we know today. Dark forces roamed the streets and subway, violence lurked on street corners. The city was broke and couldn't afford to protect its citizens. But a force for good stepped up, Guardian Angels. With the angels on the street the city became safer and weaving into this new energy was a young English artist, Sax Berlin. By day he cycled the city with packages and messages, at night he joined the subversive counter culture of street art and graffiti. The painted bridges, buildings and subways are indelibly etched into Berlins core and from the distance of decades he has painted his visions of these Angels. Wild Side belongs on the streets guarding New Yorkers and making the city safe again.
