Both stylistically modern and compositionally classic, Erte's work (1892-1990) is revered around the world for its originality and thought-provoking subject matter.
"Les Bijoux de Perle" is a limited edition serigraph on paper, numbered AP 12 of 50 and hand signed by the artist. (AP is artist proof)
This picture was a design for costumes in a scene called "Les Bijoux de Perles" for a show at the George White Scandals in New York in 1926. The group of showgirls were forming a crown.
Measurements are 22" X 30".
Erte; Father of Art Deco: Romaine de Tirtoff was born Roman Petrovich Tyrtov in 1892 in St. Petersburg, Russian Empire. He died in 1990 at the age of 97. His father was a Russian Fleet Admiral, but as a young man Erte moved to Paris, France to pursue a career as a designer. In 1915 he got his substantial contract with Harper's Bazaar magazine and went on to an illustrious career that included designing costumes and stage sets. Erte is perhaps most famous for his elegant fashion designs which capture the Art Deco period in which he worked.
