The composition depicts a classic Dutch countryside or polder landscape, The low-lying waterways, characteristic windmill, and specific architecture of the distant church tower are iconic to the Netherlands.
The back of the wooden frame features an authentic vintage German sticker from a framing workshop named Kunsthandlung Wassing, located in Westphalia, Germany. Bocholt is a German city situated directly along the Netherlands border. While the landscape subject itself is distinctly Dutch, the piece was professionally framed and sold just across the border in Germany.
