A striking terracotta figure from the Jama-Coaque culture of Ecuador, dating between 100 BC and 500 AD. Created with notably impressive detail, this substantial figure was designed as a ritual piece for high-status display, offering considerably greater presence than ordinary archaeological fragments.
The seated lady, dressed in elaborate ceremonial costume with a majestic fanned crown, forms a powerful ethnographic composition centred on ancient authority and decorative elegance. Her poised ritual stance captures the sophisticated artistry and historical depth of ancient Manabí.
The Jama-Coaque culture developed a respected reputation for quality decorative ceramics, and this piece remains as an ambitious example of their work. The vintage gallery label and professional internal mounting pin reinforce its status as a high-tier interior display piece.
Finished in stabilised matte terracotta with visible archaeological textures, the figure stands on a black wooden plinth. Its scale and professional mounting distinguish it from common small-scale decorative antiquities. An unusually well-preserved and highly decorative Ecuadorian piece with excellent collector and interior appeal.
