1990s Abstract Keith Haring Style Acrylic on Canvas Red Painting
A beautiful and playful original painting, it is clearly inspired by the works of the great contemporary artist Keith Haring (1958–1990).
It is a work inspired by the ‘Untitled’ series (often associated with his first solo exhibition, ‘One Man Show’) from 1982.
The work features a distinct style inspired by Pop Art and Street Art (Graffiti), with a vibrant red background against which a human pyramid stands out, composed of stylised anthropomorphic figures outlined in thick black lines.
At the centre of the composition, one of the figures is entirely black, creating a strong visual contrast with the surrounding white silhouettes.
In the top left corner, a circle encloses a yellow heart (or red in other versions), an iconic symbol of the artist.
This artwork, never before on the market, comes from an important Italian private collection
Small graphic strokes around the figures suggest movement, energy and vibrancy, lending dynamism to the entire scene.
The stacked figures form a structure that evokes the concepts of mutual support, unity and social cooperation.
For Haring, the heart is a symbol of optimism, love and compassion that transcends cultural boundaries.
The ‘lines of movement’ reflect urban energy and the influence of hip-hop culture and the hustle and bustle of 1980s New York.
The seemingly simple, cartoonish style, however, reflects Haring’s profound philosophy that ‘art is for everyone’, seeking an immediate and democratic visual language.
The original work dates back to 1982, a turning point in Haring’s career with his first solo exhibition at Tony Shafrazi’s gallery in SoHo, New York.
This period marks the definitive shift from the ‘ephemeral’ chalk drawings in the underground to exhibitions in major international art galleries. This piece is designed in the style of the selected designer and/or manufacturer
