This 3D mixed-media wall sculpture features a dynamic, undulating composition housed in acrylic shadow boxes by Michele Tuegel. Signed and dated 1992.
It is done of handmade paper and fiber art by Florida-based artist, curator, and gallery director Michele Tuegel.
The piece features thousands of tightly rolled, individually colored columns—resembling dyed paper rolls—arranged to form a wave-like landscape.
A vibrant color gradient transitions smoothly from deep magenta to purples, blues, and seafoam green. White circular nodes are scattered across the top surface like stars or blossoms.
The sculpture is divided into two mirroring, interlocking panels encased in thick, protective clear plexiglass/acrylic frames typical of high-end fine craft conservation.
Both parts of the diptych have already installed on their back the lucite wall z hangers support and both come with the other lucite support part to be attached to the wall.
Dimension below are for each artwork.
Michele Tuegel is an influential figure in the Florida fine craft community, widely recognized for winning the first-ever "Best of Show" at the Mainsail Art Festival in 1976 for her specialized handmade paper and fiber sculptures. She served as the first Executive Director of Florida CraftArt and previously operated the Michele Tuegel Contemporary gallery in St. Petersburg, Florida.
