This small vintage Japanese Gumma sōsaku kokeshi is a work by Kisaku. The doll has a refined, compact form with a large black hairstyle, a calm understated face, subtle eye lines and a small red mouth detail.
Dimensions: height 13 cm, diameter 5.5 cm.
The kimono is finished in soft natural wood tones, with green accents and a delicate floral decoration in warm yellow and brown shades. The carved lines, small flower details and quiet colour palette give the kokeshi an elegant, almost delicate appearance.
The underside is signed and dated.
In beautiful vintage condition, with light traces of use consistent with age.
A small but particularly charming collector’s object, also beautiful as a subtle Japanese accent on a shelf, cabinet or next to ceramics in a contemporary interior. This piece has an attribution mark,
