This vintage Japanese sōsaku kokeshi from the 1970s is a work by Kazuo Takamizawa and carries the title “Camellia Girl”. The doll has an elegant, slender yet strong presence, with a large dark hairstyle, a small red hair ornament and a calm face with fine, restrained eye lines.
Dimensions: height 26.5 cm, diameter 9 cm.
The kimono is finished in warm red tones and decorated with refined branches, leaves and floral motifs. The overall design feels warm, graceful and characteristic of creative kokeshi from the late Shōwa period.
The underside bears the artist’s hanko stamp/signature.
In beautiful vintage condition, with light traces of use consistent with age.
A stylish kokeshi with quiet presence, beautiful as a collector’s piece or as a Japanese accent in a contemporary interior. This piece has an attribution mark,
