South German Furniture is often confused with Northern Italian pieces as they are geographically close and there was significant cultural interchange between the two areas. The smaller proportions of this chest make it comparable to an english bachelors chest. The figured inlaid walnut and banding combined with the serpentine form and bun feet add to the decorative value of the chest. See less
