Beautiful and substantial 19th Century Victorian settee featuring hand-carved lion head arms, classical saber legs, and a deeply tufted leather back. This piece has wonderful presence and character, originally intended for a hall, library, or study.
The carved hardwood frame (likely walnut or mahogany) is solid and well proportioned. The black leather upholstery shows honest age-related wear, including cracking and surface wear to the seat and back, consistent with its age and use. The seat leather appears to have been replaced at some point and the underside of the seat has been reinforced. Structurally sound and ready for use as-is, or an excellent candidate for thoughtful restoration or reupholstery.
