This antique Art Deco or Bauhaus bench or daybed designed by Wolfgang Hoffmann for Howell was made in Austria circa 1940. This minimalist bench features a chrome-plated tubular steel frame with long upholstered seat in original gray fabric with a textured pattern in a classic Art Deco geometric motif. Unmarked.
CONDITION
Very good vintage condition with wear consistent with age and use. Minor patina and oxidation to frame. Some original screws have been replaced to better secure seat to frame. Screws visible only from underside. Original upholstery is in good antique condition with general wear including minor fading, pulls and snags and a timeworn appearance. Bench has beautiful antique character and presents well in current original condition. Professional reupholstery services also available on request.
