It comes directly from the cut velvet technique itself, in which the pile is selectively cut at two different heights to reveal contrasting tonal depths within the same fabric.

As a result, the surface reads differently in every light condition and shifts between the two tones depending on viewing angle. The reverse side is finished in plain black fabric with a concealed zipper closure. No filler included.
