ca.1860 German made ceramic circus souvenir featuring Chang and Eng, the famous conjoined twins from Siam who are the origins of the term ‘Siamese twins.’ These brothers led an interesting life!
This little treasure measures approx 3” tall, 2” wide at the base. This one has some production issues- one head has a cracked neck and the same one’s hand has a crack as well. These appear to be something that happened pre-firing to me. If you really look, the clay is still attached on the neck at the right. If this was cracked post-production, the crack would go all the way around. It’s part of the ceramic sculpture process. Not necessarily damage. See pics.
