The dining table has a high gloss mahogany- like finish in traditional American Chippendale style. It has a classic, elegant look with pedestal-style tripod base with ball and claw feet. It comes with an extension piece and can seat up to 10 people comfortably. In addition it comes with a table pad.
1. Pedestal construction
A central turned pedestal supports the table instead of corner legs
This is typical of 18th-century English and American dining tables, later revived in Colonial Revival pieces
2. Tripod base with carved feet
The three outward-curving supports form a tripod base
The feet are ball-and-claw (Chippendale feet), one of the most recognizable motifs in traditional furniture, originally inspired by Chinese design influences
3. Turned and carved detailing
The pedestal has a baluster/urn shape, giving it a sculptural, classical profile
Decorative carving at the base adds refinement and craftsmanship
4. Rich wood and finish
The warm, polished wood (likely mahogany or a mahogany veneer) is consistent with formal dining furniture traditions
There are 8 chairs, of which 2 are arm chairs.
1. Ribbon-back splat (signature Chippendale feature)
The backrest has an intricate, interlaced “ribbon” or pierced splat design, hallmark of Chippendale furniture (mid-18th century England), especially in dining chairs.
2. Cabriole legs (Queen Anne influence)
The front legs curve outward and then inward in an S-shape—this is called a cabriole leg, originating in Queen Anne style (early 1700s) and carried into Chippendale designs.
3. Ball-and-claw feet
The carved feet gripping a ball are classic Chippendale details, often associated with Chinese or Rococo influences popular at the time.
4. Carved apron and knees
The decorative carvings along the seat rail (apron) and at the top of the legs (“knees”) add to the formal, high-style look typical of traditional English-inspired furniture.
5. Upholstered drop-in seat
The removable upholstered seat is practical and common in dining chairs of this style.
