This chandelier is a stunning example of Genovese craftsmanship. Many chandeliers hailing from this port city (Genoa) in Northern Italy began with a giltwood base as as you see here. There is a very unique combination of silver and gold leaf that have been used to accentuate the bobeche and central column of the chandelier. The frame is embellished with floral garlands, all of which are present and complete, as well as cascading teardrop crystals. The warm patinated finish in combination with these crystal accents create an unmistakable old-world elegance.
The chandelier has been fully re-wired to be electrically new, including six candelabra (E12) base American sockets. It is suitable for contemporary use and includes six feet of chain, escutcheon plate, and all necessary mounting hardware for installation on standard U.S. junction box.
