Appreciated at large by the design world, this iconic armchair was designed in 1959 by Gianfranco Frattini. The chair offers both the highest quality of construction and materials as well as the most sophisticated Italian design.

Originally named “Giulia”, this armchair was designed by Gianfranco Frattini for Cassina in 1957. Named after the wife of his mentor, Gio Ponti, Frattini’s goal was to redesign the classic wingback chair.

This large chair is built around a central walnut wood shell which has been intentionally left uncovered where it meets the beautifully molded side panels. The panels, upholstered in natural leather, are attached by 4 wood buttons on each side. The top shell is made out of the highest quality materials and seems to float on its wooden frame. The volume of the shell is therefore compensated by the minimalism of the frame and therefore provides a balanced overall design.The ears on the side complement the secluded look and provide for armrest support simultaneously. The patterned leather provide the finishing touch.
