This monumental 51 cm example represents … Read more An impressive large-scale Austrian “Amphora” pottery vase from Turn-Teplitz, Bohemia, dating to circa 1895–1910. This monumental 51 cm example represents Amphora’s mature luxury production at its most decorative and technically ambitious.

The tall elegant body, broad flaring neck, and sculptural openwork handles create a commanding silhouette. Particularly notable is the intricate pierced olive-green collar, where numerous hand-cut openings demonstrate highly labour-intensive craftsmanship.

Rich moulded ornament, stylised scrolls, foliate details, and suspended teardrop motifs are set against an ivory ground with olive, rose-brown, and gilt accents.

The underside bears the Amphora crown mark with AUSTRIA and model number 12000. Founded by Alfred Stellmacher, Amphora rose to international prominence through innovation, luxury production, and major exhibition success, with distribution reaching prestigious firms such as Tiffany & Co. Large surviving pieces of this scale remain highly collectible today.

A superb collector’s object combining monumental size, technical artistry, and distinctive Turn-Teplitz design.
