Carol Swain is a visual Artist based in Melbourne who is fascinated and drawn to the random abstract forms that she perceives within nature, disasters, abandoned building sites and the banal forms created from discarded objects on the street. Swain completed a Master of Contemporary Art 2012 at Victorian College of Arts. She also completed a post Graduate Diploma of Visual Art VCA 2011. Swain has shown her works in both Solo and Group exhibitions in numerous artists run spaces in Melbourne. She works predominately in the medium of Oil Painting but also has a background in printmaking. Swain explores through the language of abstraction in response to the poetic dialogue between the external and internal world. Swain received the langridge oil Painting Award in 2011 at the Post Graduate end of year show Victorian College of the Arts; one of her prints 'The Jazz Player', Wood Block print, was selected as part of 'An Anthology of Printmaking and Poetry, Melbourne 2000 whilst studying at Tafe CAE visual Diploma of Art.
