A beautiful example of mid-century artisan craftsmanship, this expanding book slide (or book rack) features intricate, hand-carved fretwork in the traditional "Jali" style. Crafted from solid Sheesham (Indian Rosewood), the piece showcases a stunning high-contrast grain that has been professionally restored to its original luster.
The sliding mechanism allows the rack to expand to accommodate a growing library, while the end panels fold flat for easy storage. The base features relief-carved floral and geometric motifs, and the underside bears a distinctive interlocking four-circle artisan workshop mark, characteristic of high-quality export woodwares from the Hoshiarpur region of India.
