A large Japanese cloisonné enamel vase attributed to Yoshiko Noda, exhibiting a refined and modern aesthetic characteristic of early 20th century work. The composition features stylized maple leaves rendered in soft tonal gradations across a delicately transitioning ground, shifting from ivory white into a muted blue field.
The design is notable for its restraint and painterly quality, with minimal wirework emphasizing form over structure. The leaves are articulated with subtle shading and fine outlining, creating a sense of depth and movement that aligns with more contemporary cloisonné production.
A paper label to the base references participation in the 9th Japanese Art Exhibition, dated January 13, 1930, further situating the piece within a modern exhibition context of the period.
The vase is substantial in scale and presence, standing as a strong decorative example of transitional cloisonné moving away from dense Meiji ornamentation toward a more simplified and artistic approach.
Condition: There are areas of damage and loss to the lower body, particularly along the back and side, as visible in the images. Despite this, the piece retains strong visual appeal and remains structurally stable.
A compelling example of exhibition-era cloisonné, combining scale, modern design sensibility, and documented historical context.
