A striking pair of Japanese cloisonné enamel vases featuring bold reserves of phoenix and dragon motifs set against a richly textured ground. The bodies are decorated in contrasting panels of pink and soft purple enamel, framed within a darker ground incorporating goldstone flecking that creates depth and visual movement.
Each vase displays alternating mythological subjects, with finely rendered phoenix and dragon designs enclosed within shield form cartouches. The upper register is densely decorated with floral motifs, butterflies, and auspicious objects, all executed in a lively and varied color palette.
The use of goldstone style ground is particularly notable, adding a shimmering, almost aventurine effect that enhances the overall richness of the composition. This, combined with the multi panel design, reflects the influence of Nagoya school production, where decorative complexity and bold contrasts were favored.
A highly decorative and visually dynamic pair, offering strong display appeal with a balance of traditional symbolism and later cloisonné stylistic development.
