Originates from central europe, from the late 19th or early 20th century, where the thonet firm developed in the mid-19th century the steam-bent beech wood technique that revolutionised industrial furniture.the steam-bent wood technique, patented by michael thonet in vienna, allowed the production of light, sturdy and demountable pieces that were distributed throughout europe. This model belongs to the formal language of the vienna secession, where the continuous curved line and structural economy prevail over ornament.built in solid steam-bent beech, with a moulded plywood disc seat. The structure develops from a single continuous arch defining the back and armrests on pieces with arms. The legs, of round section, are joined to the seat by hidden metal screws. The carpentry is direct and functional, characteristic of the thonet language.the patina retains the warm and deep tone of aged beech, with a uniform matte sheen. The surfaces show marks, small scratches and traces of prolonged use integrated into the wood. The structure remain sound and the joinery functions correctly.it fits naturally in eclectic, mid-century, vintage industrial and classic bistro interiors. Chairs function as dining, desk or reading chairs. The continuous curved line characteristic of thonet brings a singular graphic accent to any composition. Attributed to the thonet tradition or the central european bentwood school (including makers such as jacob & josef kohn or fischel), this piece reflects the formal and structural standards of early 20th-century viennese production, although no maker’s mark is present to confirm a definitive attribution.
