An exceptional and monumental genuine Irish Regency quality mahogany extending dining table of outstanding scale and presence, dating to circa 1820.
This remarkable and rare example stands upon four beautifully turned and fluted pedestal columns each raised on elegant reeded sabre legs terminating in original brass caps and castors. The proportions are superb giving the piece both architectural strength and refined elegance — entirely consistent with the finest Irish Regency craftsmanship of the early 19th century.
The rich mahogany top displays a wonderful depth of colour and figuring with a warm even tone across the entire surface. The moulded edge is finely executed and uniform throughout reflecting the superior workmanship expected of a table of this calibre.
The table is constructed in multiple sections and is supplied with five additional leaves allowing it to extend to an extraordinary full length of over 5.4 metres (17.71 in). When fully extended it comfortably seats up to 26 people, making it ideal for grand dining rooms, country houses, estates, embassies, or large-scale formal entertaining.
The engineering is excellent — solid, stable and designed for both practicality and visual impact. The original brass caps and castors allow for ease of movement despite its impressive proportions.
A rare opportunity to acquire a genuine early 19th century Irish Regency table of true statement scale, combining elegance, versatility and commanding architectural presence.
