These early 20th century vessels are very heavy and may have been used for storing dry goods, pickling or decorative garden ornaments—or as rhubarb forcers, which are cylindrical bell-shaped vessels with removable tops for placing over rhubarb plants in mid-winter to encourage early growth. They have small embossed crescent boon inside of a square. They were sourced from an estate in a small town along Connecticut’s “Gold Coast.” No maker’s mark.
