The wood is probably cherry, having that warm light color and patina.
A handsome looking and well proportioned desk, perfect for that small Parisian apartment, or any small area, as it’s less than two feet wide. The top section features glass fronted doors, which have a lock and key, and a fabric lined interior with a single shelf. Below are two short drawers with decorative brass stringing and brass pulls. In front of these drawers is a flip out leaf that reveals the leather inset writing surface. This leaf extends out 8” and has 27.5” knee clearance. The well used leather writing surface is edged in a tooled and gilded Greek key pattern. When opened out, the work surface is 23.5” wide and 16.5” deep. The lower section has two long drawers, also with decorative brass stringing. They gave a key with working locks. The whole standing on elegant tapering legs.
