This is a handcrafted Southwest Hopi polychrome pottery jar with geometric designs, produced in the Mata Ortiz region. This vessel is signed by the well known artist; “SOFIE de TENA”, measuring 7” high by 6” in diameter. It is in excellent condition.
* Style: The piece is a bulbous olla jar featuring traditional geometric patterns, characteristic of Native American pottery from the Southwest Hopi.
* Technique: Such jars are typically hand-coiled and hand-painted using natural earth pigments rather than being made on a pottery wheel.
