What a wonderful and rare piece! I haven't seen another: Whimsical and highly sculptural vintage Italian ceramic candelabra attributed to Ugo Zaccagnini, dating to the late 1930s–1940s.
This lovely, four-candle, centerpiece features perched birds nestled among branching tree limbs with hand-applied ivy leaves and berry details, all rendered in richly textured ceramic with glossy white glaze and deep green accents.
Designed to hold four taper candles, the candelabra functions beautifully as both a decorative object and dramatic tablescape centerpiece.
The underside retains the handwritten “Italy” mark along with the stylized Zaccagnini “Z” logo and model numbering associated with the renowned Tuscan ceramic house.
About the Maker
Ugo Zaccagnini founded Ceramiche Zaccagnini in Florence, Italy in the early 20th century, becoming known for expressive hand-crafted art pottery and decorative ceramics inspired by nature, classical forms, and Italian artistry. Following Ugo Zaccagnini’s death in 1937, the company continued under family management and adopted the distinctive stylized “Z” mark seen on later production. Today, Zaccagnini ceramics are collected for their sculptural forms, whimsical character, and richly decorative Italian craftsmanship.
