French weather vanes are markedly different than most American examples in that they were hand made individually by coppersmiths and virtually always in the form of a rooster, while American examples ran the gamut of examples and were predominantly made in factories. We were fortunate to acquire the lifetime collection of vanes from a French dealer and collector. This is a full bodied example with a great tail. It was found in the lovely seaside village of Sete.
