The whole is enriched with an exceptional enameled and gilded decoration combining Baroque scrolls, cartouches with a starry blue background, hand-painted polychrome floral bouquets, and motifs. Mark engraved under the base (H or 4). Formerly mounted as a lamp, slight wear consistent with age.
The overlay technique (cut double-layered glass) combined with polychrome enameling and gilding is characteristic of Bohemian production—particularly from the Karlsbad region—made in the 19th century for export to the Ottoman and Middle Eastern markets, which were great connoisseurs of this type of luxurious glassware with decoration.
