Olinto modular bookcase designed by kazuhide takahama for b&b.
a stunning bookcase, the result of a fusion of oriental design and italian quality.
refined and elegant, this modular bookcase can furnish a room with its sparkling personality.
made in the 1960s from solid wood lacquered in a latte color.
kazuhide takahama was a great japanese designer and a genius of italian design thanks to a fortuitous meeting with dino gravina, with whom he collaborated throughout his life, while designing the japan pavilion at the milan triennale.
b&b was founded in 1966 in novedrate under the name c&b by cesare cassina and piero ambrogio busnelli, who in 1973 acquired cassina's shares and transformed it into b&b.
the first production of the bookcase was made by the gavina company; after its closure, b&b acquired the patents for its production.
this piece of furniture was designed to be adaptable to your needs. In fact, when purchasing, you could choose between different quantities and types of modules. This specific model is composed of:
two modules with shelves only;
two modules with lacquered doors at the bottom and full-height shelves.
the bookcase is in excellent condition, with some minor and obvious signs of age, as shown in the photos.
slight color variations due to exposure to the sun.
the name of the bookcase is a dedication by takahama to father olinto marella, a charitable soul beatified in 2020. I have official proof of authenticity such as vintage catalogs,
designer records,
or other literature sources and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising
from
misattribution
