The cabinet is stamped and tagged "Soubrier" which confirms it is a high-quality piece from the famous Parisian cabinet makers. Founded in 1848, Maison Soubrier was a premier cabinetmaker in the historic Faubourg Saint-Antoine district, renowned for creating opulent "style furniture" for elite clients, including the Ritz.
The firm was led by master cabinetmakers like Louis Soubrier, who specialized in high-quality interpretations of 18th-century French styles.
They were famous for bespoke engineering, most notably designing the scandalous "Siège d'amour" (Love Chair) for King Edward VII in 1890.
While they later expanded into Art Moderne and Art Deco styles in the 1920s and 30s, the company eventually shifted focus to renting its massive collection—over 32,000 square feet of inventory—to the film and theater industries.
