Comprised of nine pieces of hand-carved limestone from Provence, France, this small wall fountain has a high-arching back wall (three … Read more Comprised of nine pieces of hand-carved limestone from Provence, France, this small wall fountain has a high-arching back wall (three stones) that is mirrored by a more subtly curved basin (six stones). A galbe center block bends outwards as it accommodates the pair of iron bars that traverse the roughly rectangular basin. Above the iron bars is a scrolled iron spout that emerges from a carved circular aperture. This configuration is an accurate representation of old French fountains, as villagers would place receptacles on the iron bars to gather water for cooking and cleaning from the spout. Today, the fountain would enhance any outdoor landscape, and the iron bars could be used to support a small planter of flowers. Several of the stones have developed a green patina, adding to the charm of our French wall fountain. See less
