This is a wonderful 18th century antique Baroque church altar candlestick or pricket, carved from wood with tripod ornate claw … Read more This is a wonderful 18th century antique Baroque church altar candlestick or pricket, carved from wood with tripod ornate claw feet. Naturally, an electrical cord is needed and lamp parts for having it be a floor lamp again.

The carved wood candlestick consists of 3 separate sections held together with a metal center post. The sections consist of reliefs on a triangular base displaying attributes of saints: the present pair, Saint Peter with keys and Saint Paul with a sword. Our research indicates this comes from the Workshop of Vincenzo Grandi.

What’s important here is whether you plan to have the necessary work done so that you can use this candlestick as a floor lamp or cut done the metal center post and use it for burning a candle, a certain amount of work is needed. Thus, the sale price reflects that into consideration.

Measurements;
Carved wood candlestick is 38” high
The treaded metal post is 7.5” high
Estimated added parts for a floor lamp with a shade is 59” high

Condition;
There is a slight curve to the metal post should be replaced so that it’s perfectly straight.

The overall condition is distressed with flaking gesso which adds to the look of an over 200 year old antique. See less
