This vintage mahjong set from China contains 144 tiles, 4 blanks, a wind bettor, 4 dice and 116 counters. The mahjong are made from dovetailed bamboo and bone - the ratio is 50/50. The bone is carved and handpainted.
The tiles themselves are free from damage and are in good shape. The counters are not of uniform size in each category but are still usable and add to the authenticity of this set. Sets like these were exported to the European market during the 1920's during a Mahjong craze.
