Pair of 19th Century Italian Renaissance Cast Bronze Mirrored Wall Sconces recall the days before electric lighting, when candles (which were considered by most to be quite expensive) were used for evening hours. This clever design amplifies the candle power by reflecting the light back out into the room. Intricately cast in solid bronze in a manner harking back to the glory years of the Renaissance in Europe, each features an angel's countenance above and below, with elaborately scrolled foliate designs wrapping all around the original beveled mirror panes. Two candle holders mounted on bobeches which were aesthetically designed to capture errant melting wax, are fitted to finely cast arms to complete the overall effect and romantic effect.
