The form is smooth and continuous, with the waist pulled in tight and the grain wrapping around the whole piece in long, sweeping arcs. Where the wood opens up around a knot at the center, dark figuring spreads outward through the lighter timber like ink in water. The natural finish is warm and luminous, and the surface polished to a quiet sheen that invites touch. Fine checking runs vertically through the piece, honest and unrepaired, a reminder that this object is made from something that was once alive. Equally suited as a stool or a side table, and strong enough as an object to stand entirely on its own. Well suited to Wabi-Sabi, Japandi, and warm contemporary interiors.
