Design
Designed by Claudio Salocchi for Sormani, model SC50 embodies the rational elegance associated with Italian modernism of the 1960s–70s. The structure is defined by a central pedestal resting on a four-point base, where gently curved supports meet with visible brass fixings. This construction introduces both stability and a subtle decorative rhythm. The cabinets themselves are veneered in rosewood, selected for its expressive grain, which flows across the surfaces and wraps the edges with care. Each unit features a recessed open compartment beneath the top, offering practical storage while maintaining a clean silhouette. The raised lip around the upper surface provides a functional boundary, originally intended to secure personal items within reach.
