This is a total gem for anyone who loves antique textile art or cats! 19th-century silk embroidery American folk art piece. These were prized parlor decorations that showed off real needlework skills. Varied, puffy textures throughout the figure of the cat and the ornamentations.
Ultimate find for a refined cat lady who wants something with some soul and history than a modern print. Has that perfectly weird, primitive charm—especially with those striking red eyes and thick whiskers—that makes it feel like a one-of-a-kind discovery from a historic estate. It’s exactly the kind of quirky, hand-crafted artifact that gives a room a sense of history and personality.

Tapestry in good condition showing honest wear consistent with age. There is some minor clouding or 'ghosting' on the inside of the glass—a common occurrence with old textiles where the fabric has settled against the pane over time. It doesn't take away from the artwork, but rather adds to that 'found in an attic' storied look. Could easily have a framer pop the back and clean the glass if you want a crisp look, but many collectors (and cat ladies!) love it exactly as it is for the authentic vintage aesthetic. less
