The brush holder features iconic Foo Dog (or Foo Lion) motifs in vibrant iron red and green enamels, with calligraphy on the back. It dates from the early 20th C.
The brush holder is cylindrical in shape, glazed white on the interior, with a flat unglazed foot rim on the base.
There is a wax export seal and a stamped mark on the base and a faded paper label on the back.
MEASUREMENTS
2 7/8 in (7.3 cm) diameter x 4 3/8 in (11.0 cm) height. Weighs 12.4 oz.
CONDITION
A hairline extends from the mouth to about ½ way to the foot. There is also a small concussion mark on the base. The enamels look great. The brush holder has typical kiln flaws, such as a couple of pits, bumps and black spots.
