A superb 19th-century hand-colored engraving titled "Peer of the Time of Louis XIII," presenting an aristocratic figure viewed from the rear to highlight the intricate details of 17th-century French courtly fashion. The subject is dressed in a blue doublet and breeches with elaborate lace cuffs and collar, a draped mantle, and a plumed hat, complete with a rapier at his side.
The plate is signed by Hippolyte (Polydore) Pauquet and is based on original works by Abraham Bosse, the celebrated 17th-century French artist known for his depictions of the manners and fashions of the reign of Louis XIII.

This engraving has been attached at the corners to an 11" x 14" acid-free mat using acid-free, residue-free tape. It also has an 11" x 14" acid free backer board and is ready for framing.
The engraving is presented on a heavy cream paper with consistent toning across the sheet. The upper-right and upper-left corners have been diagonally trimmed. There is a minor crease at the lower-left corner and a faint pencil notation in the lower-right margin. The hand-coloring is exceptionally vibrant, particularly the blue and gold detailing of the costume and the pink plumage of the hat.
